Manufacturing Engineer

Horizon Technology is a growing analytical instrument company specializing in automated sample preparation solutions.
Responsibilities of Manufacturing Engineer Includes:
- Plan, organize and manage the manufacturing engineering activity providing direction and support to production and other departments.
- Design manufacturing processes and associated documentation to support the manufacture of Horizon Technology products.
- Develop and maintain assembly work instructions and manufacturing operating procedures.
- Prepare floor and equipment layouts to promote flow, eliminate waste for efficient utilization of space.
- Identify, define and coordinate make/buy analysis to outsource manufacturing of sub-assemblies, systems and complete products as required.
- Manage the transition of products from Research and Development to Manufacturing.
- Update manufacturing documentation and processes from ECO activity in a timely manner.
- Work with R&D to provide input and guidance to ensure manufacturability of new products in the pipeline.
- Develop manufacturing process to, reduce manufacturing cycle time, inventory, and implement quality and safety improvement opportunities.
- Work closely with Mechanical/Electrical engineers to develop cost effective designs and accurate drawings prior to production.
- Generate detailed ECR/ECO to correct existing drawings, bill of materials to ensure accurate documentation.
- Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical fixtures to manufacture products.
- Work with Quality to monitor, improve and control manufacturing processes.
- Work with the MRB to resolve nonconformance dispositions.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines and bring assignments to successful completion.
Job Requirements
Manufacturing Engineer
Minimum Requirements for Manufacturing Engineer:
- BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment supporting the manufacturing operations.
- Experience in electromechanical assemblies, pneumatics, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and plastics processing.
- CAD proficient, Solid Works preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and written skills.
- Hands on knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, ProfitKey preferred.
- Experience with applying Lean Six Sigma techniques to manufacturing.
