One of our top Pharmaceutical clients located in Pennsylvania, is actively seeking qualified candidates for 5 Senior Scientist openings.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will design and evaluate synthetic strategies, carry out the synthesis, preparative purification and analytical characterization, and preparative purification of research compounds of biologic interest, pharmacophore validation and lead optimization efforts.
Work closely with senior synthetic chemists and assist in compound preparation, characterization (LC/MS, IR, UV, NMR) and preparative purification of research compounds of biological interest.
Contribute significantly in shaping and implementing the direction of multiple lead identification and optimization programs.
Develop creative synthetic approaches to designed molecules.
Use of scientific literature to find synthetic precedents.
Responsible for the preparation and purification of targeted biologically active molecules. Synthesize, purify and characterize biologically active compounds.
Evaluate biological results and propose a future course of action.
Contribute to structure-based design process and lead optimization.
Operate state of the art parallel synthesis and purification equipment.
Contribute to patent preparation (i.e. experimental for invention disclosure).

Job Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated proficiency in running a variety of chemical reactions.
Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry. Experience and confidence in performing routine synthetic organic reactions.
Knowledge of solid and solution phase chemistries in a library format is desired.
Solid understanding of modern structure determination methods (2D NMR, MS, etc.)
Fundamental understanding of reaction mechanisms.
Knowledge of instrumentation and separation techniques.
Computer based software for reaction database searching a desired.
Qualified individuals will have hands on experience with various analytical and preparative chromatographic purification techniques, e.g. medium pressure column chromatography, and high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC).
Highly proven track record of high productivity.
Experience with the maintenance of laboratory instrumentation is a plus.
Familiarity with structure based design, medicinal chemistry and/or parallel synthesis a plus.
Minimum Qualifications for Consideration:
Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry with 2 years of pharmaceutical industry experience. Small molecule therapeutic drugs experience is required.
Or
MS in chemistry, 7 years industrial experience performing organic synthesis.
Small molecule therapeutic drugs experience is required.
