BASIC JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES: +Plan and manage research, development and engineering assignments related to the improvement of product costs, quality, manufacturability and performance from concept to production. +Identify areas of continuous improvement, cost reduction, increased functionality and product enhancement. +Provide module engineering support and technical assistance to all Engineering customers, both internal and external. +Work congruently with outside technical/industrial resources to develop innovative designs to meet business opportunities as they interact with the Module environment. +Work together with team members to develop capable, cost effective manufacturing and assembly processes concurrent to product design activities (i.e. DFMA) to insure robust designs are delivered. +Establish product guidelines and best practices to support product development efforts. +Proactively compile, prepare and present data for timely project updates and technical presentations to staff and/or senior management. +Develop, lead, and actively participate in the Design Review process for new designs. +Assist in resolving multiple complex engineering problems simultaneously in a multiple team environment. +Assist teams with problem solving and failure analysis. +Continuously improve the processes, skills, team environment and tools necessary to achieve product leadership strategy. +Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: + MS or above in polymer engineering, chemistry or equivalent is required. + In depth knowledge of reinforced engineered polymers, their chemical composition, and physical / mechanical properties. + Experience with DOE and accelerated material testing. + Knowledge of chemical and environmental resistance of polymeric compounds and composites. + Familiarity with manufacturing processes using thermoplastic and thermoset compounds (injection molding, thermoforming). +Demonstrated record of Advanced Failure Analysis and scientific problem solving. +Skilled with FEA, FMEA, DOE, QFD, and DFMA. +Use of engineering principles. I.e. fluid, mechanical and thermal. +Interpretation of statistics related to manufacturing processes and part design. +Collaborative problem solving techniques. +Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) experience preferred.
