Medical assistants work in medical facilities. There are two different types of medical assistants, administrative and clinical.
Administrative medical assistants scheduling appointments perform bookkeeping, greet patients, answer telephones, and other various secretarial duties. Clinical medical assistants, on the other hand, work with patients taking medical histories, recording vital signs, explaining treatments procedures to patients, and assisting physicians.
In order to become a medical assistant, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent. After that, most medical assistants complete a one to two year program that teaches them everything about medical assisting.
