Medical Billing and Coding is a career you can do from the comfort of an office or even your own home. It is an exciting career that requires you to be a detective and decipher codes. You will translate codes given by doctors so you can properly submit claims to insurance companies and the United States Government.
In order to become a medical biller and coder you must have a high school degree or equivalent. Once you have that completed, you will need to enroll in a higher educational program that offers a medical billing and coding program. These programs can last anywhere from a few months to a few years and can be taken at community colleges, technical and trade schools.
Medical billers and coders earn a competitive salary ranging anywhere from $34,000 to $42,000 annually on average. The more education you receive, however, the better salary you’ll receive.
