Job Description

Job Summary: Provide staff with an efficient system for maintaining, filing, locating, logging, retrieving and delivering patient medical records. Essential Duties:

  • Demonstrates ability to pull charts based on established standards.
  • Identify different report types.  Identify and place in order under chart divider.
  • Sort and deliver patient charts to appropriate locations.  Pick-up charts upon request.  Re-file returned charts.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of use and maintenance of technical equipment.
  • Answer medical records telephone and respond accordingly. 
  • Prepare new patient charts.  Repair damaged charts.
  • Understand archive chart process and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of filing and P & P. 
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of ROI guidelines.


Job Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of program in Medical record technology preferred.
  • Courses in medical terminology and basic computer applications preferred.
Experience
  • Will substitute verifiable on the job training and experience for education requirements.
License/Certification:
  • None required
