Basic Purpose: Work with cross-functional team of analysts, medical doctors, business leaders, and IT to develop HIPAA-compliant statistical / mathematical models linking variety of data sources to health outcomes, including disease risk, mortality risk, healthcare cost, and employee productivity. Data sources include laboratory test results, self-reported health risk assessments, medical and prescription claims, and employee productivity data. Duties and Responsibilities1. Integrate and analyze large data sets using advanced statistical, mathematical, and data mining techniques demonstrating the value of diagnostic testing in treatment across wide variety of disease states 2. Identify opportunities to streamline analytical processes, including refinements to data processing algorithms, adoption of new technologies, and process reengineering 3. Supervise project execution including project planning, research protocol development, and resource allocation. Use strong business judgment to reconcile opinions of cross-functional team 4. Evaluate quality and accuracy of project deliverables; help prepare and deliver presentations – including in-depth analytical conclusions and interpretation of advanced statistical methods (multivariate regression analysis, data mining techniques, non-linear optimization, etc.) to technical and non-technical audiences 5. Support efforts to develop information products/solutions that support existing Lines of Business 6. Review and recommend statistical and other analytic software packages 7. Contribute to development of promotional materials, case studies, and white papers intended to strengthen reputation of thought leadership for Quest Diagnostics in health informatics capabilities Qualifications Education: Advanced degree in life sciences or related quantitative field, including Actuarial Science, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health/Bio-Informatics, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics Work Experience § 8+ years professional experience performing advanced statistical analysis and data mining in the healthcare industry § Proven record of achievement Computer Skills § Statistical and/or mathematical programming languages such as SAS, MATLAB, R, etc. § SQL and relational databases such as Oracle § Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint â–ª Experience with graphical/GIS and/or data visualization software is preferred, but not required Other § Analytical thinker w/ demonstrated enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity § Strong written and oral communication skills § Effective team player, and ability to work independently (self-starter) § Excellent organization skills; ability to multi-task, handle shifting priorities, solve unexpected problems, and be resourceful in order to achieve specific goals in high-paced environment § Some travel may be required familiarity w/ medical records databases and terminologies is preferred In addition to a base salary, Quest Diagnostics offers an excellent benefits package, which includes medical, dental, 401K, prescription and a flex spending account.
