Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB/PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as a Network Design Engineer in a large enterprise responsible for leading projects to recommend, develop and implement scalable solutions for LAN / WAN / wireless services, and ensure that initiatives support the corporate vision.

Will be accountable for using project lifecycle methodology including defining project specifications, establishing project goals and deliverables, the creation of project plans, budgetary estimates, and network implementation documentation Lead project teams and technical resources to deliver solutions that follow best-practice standards Build / configure, install and test network solutions that meet project design specifications Participate and sometimes lead in ongoing technology research and strategic planning for network & communication services Provide Tier 4 engineering and Tier 3 support during critical incidents as necessary. Provide input, review and execution of IT budgets Must be willing and able to alter shift schedule as user support demands change or technical projects require. This may require evening or night shift work for various lengths of time
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 5-7 years proven experience in large enterprise networks performing in a architecture and/or design role Must be self-motivated with excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and organizational skills The ability to work and team effectively with clients, management, and staff members in a multi-tiered, fast-paced environment Fundamental understanding and configuration experience of Juniper J-Series / M-Series Routers, Juniper EX LAN Switches, Foundry LAN Switches, Cisco WAN routers & LAN switches, Cisco wireless access points and controllers (Juniper experience HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) Proven knowledge and experience with QoS, Routing Protocols (Static, BGP, OSPF), Spanning Tree, Layer 3 Switching, and VPNs (IPSec, MPLS, VPLS) Industry certifications such as JNCIA / JNCIS / JNCIE / CCDP / CCNP highly recommended Fundamental knowledge of WAN Optimization / Acceleration and Load Balancing highly desirable Experience and / or certifications in Project Management (PMI) are a plus Experience and / or certifications in Avaya IP Telephony & VoIP are a plus Proven ability to work under stress and meet deadlines Proven attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to lift 50lbs
