GENERAL SUMMARY Responsible for practice of professional nursing and the delivery of nursing care 24 hours/day on an assigned inpatient hospital unit(s). Establishes the clinical direction for nursing care delivery, provides clinical supervision and is responsible for quality outcomes. Responsible for all aspects of personnel management and development. Responsible for attaining and maintaining adherence in prescribed regulatory standards. Coordinates unit operations with other department/disciplines to provide effective and efficient patient care. Develops, monitors and administers unit operating and capital budgets. Ensures specialty nursing practice is in accordance with philosophy, standards and objectives of the Division of Nursing and The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Job Requirements
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Bachelor's degree required, BSN strongly preferred. Master's degree in nursing required for obstetrical and neonatal services. Holds high degree of clinical expertise in specialty area being managed. Demonstrated skills in leadership management, communication, counseling, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and group process. Ability to interface effectively with divergent groups i.e. patients, families, professional colleagues, physicians, other health care members, etc. Ability to positively represent the practice of professional nursing externally.
' Current Hospital Nurse Manager experience within the Main Campus Nursing Institute may offset the Bachelor's degree requirement . '
Required Length & Type of Experience - Minimum three (3) years experience as clinical nurse to include one year management.
Required Licensure, Certification or Registry - Registered Nurse, currently licensed in Ohio.
Required Physical & Environmental Demands - Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye and hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrective vision and hearing to normal range. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
