Baylor Health Care System is a not-for-profit, faith-based healthcare system with many care locations in the Dallas-Ft. Worth community. Baylor Dallas' digestive care program offers advanced and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient treatment for digestive and liver disorders by providing a full-range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. The center's 18,000 square-foot gastrointestinal (GI) physiology laboratory provides physicians with the ability to perform esophageal motility studies, pH monitoring, manometry testing and double balloon endoscopy, in addition to typical endoscopic procedures in a centrally located area. The GI analytical lab also offers digestive disease clinical research opportunities for physicians and patients. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for supervision of all Nursing and Unit-based personnel on designated shift in order to provide a safe environment for optimum patient care. This individual assists in implementing policies and procedures to achieve desired goals and objectives; facilitates in the development of budgets, continued quality improvement, and councilor management programs. Typical responsibilities will include: - Facilitates the development and implementation of Unit goals and objectives. Interprets and guides Nursing and Lab-based personnel on BHCS policies and procedures.
- Coordinates patient care. Supervises personnel in providing safe, efficient and effective care based on individual patient needs. Coordinates with Physicians and other health team members in planning and implementing Nursing Care.
- Provides adequate staffing of Lab to ensure needed coverage for optimal patient care.
- Provides a total orientation program for new employees which includes updating progress in the orientation process, and yearly performance evaluation process.
- Coordinates with the Director in evaluating the quality of Nursing care by auditing focus notes, care paths, discharge teaching, implementation of Primary Nursing, TSM's for accuracy and Lab-based requirements for evaluation.
- Conducts team conferences, staff meetings, facilitates Councilor Management teams, plans and conducts in-services for Nursing personnel and staff attends house-wide councils as required.
- Monitors the adequate levels of approved supplies and equipment are maintained for effective operation of the shift.
- Promotes a cohesive working relationship with various BHCS departments and facilities in order to provide updated information and appropriate communication with all services.
- Promotes good public relations through positive interactions with patients, families, visitors, physicians and other BHCS personnel.
- Effective team member in the development of the Lab's budget by gathering data, maintaining expenditures within approved guidelines and justifying variances.
- Attends meeting and educational seminars to update and maintain current Nursing trends and procedures.
- Provides professional Nursing care to patients in accordance to workload or staffing shortages.
- Performs in the capacity of the Clinical Manager in his/her absence.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred;
- Current Texas RN License, ACLS and BLS required;
- Minimum of 18 months of progressive responsibility is required (example - heavy charge experience);
- Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience is preferred in the Operating Room (OR), ICU or critical care essentials; GI Lab experience is preferred but not necessary.
