GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the organization, coordination, and management of all patient and personnel activities on the nursing units. The Nursing Supervisor develops and implements unit and hospital goals, including the quality plan, to improve overall performance. The Nursing Supervisor holds staff accountable for standards of patient care and standards of performance. Supervises registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nurse aides, and state tested nurse aides.
Job Requirements
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Completion of a recognized course of study from an accredited School of Nursing - BSN or degree in related field preferred.. Demonstrate leadership, managerial skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Additional qualifications may be required for specific patient care areas as defined by the Department of Nursing.
Required Length and Type of Experience Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience as a staff nurse required. Previous management experience preferred.
Required Licensure, Certification or Registry Must be currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. BCLS Certification in all areas due upon completion of orientation. ACLS Certification (if applicable) must be obtained within first year
Required Physical and Environmental Demands Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
