Details:
• Partner with Corporate Employee Health Management regarding case management and administration of short term disability programs. Use a collaborative multi-disciplinary approach to assess fitness for duty and facilitate return to work after absence. Collect and analyze employees’ sickness and absence data to identify illnesses and injuries, both related and not related to work, that have a significant impact on business costs and productivity. Take targeted action to manage the principal causes of sickness, absence and associated disability.
• Provide medical support, when appropriate, for site injuries/illnesses.
• Partner with GSK worker’s compensation administrator regarding management at worker’s compensation injuries/illnesses.
• Responsible for the administration and coordination of training for site emergency response programs (i.e. CPR, First Aid, including periodic drills and ensuring First Aid Team have current training).
• Determine if a person has a health condition that increases risk from the effects of exposure to chemical, physical or biological agents.
• Manage site ergonomic program including performing ergonomic assessments/evaluations, providing ergonomic training, mentoring site ergonomics team, maintaining records/policies/procedures related to ergonomics, assisting management in identifying appropriate job restrictions and/or modifications relating to ergonomic disorders, and monitoring medical management of disorders to assure proper treatment and diagnosis of disorders.
• Develop health and safety promotion and prevention strategies.
• Identify the areas of highest modifiable risk to the personal health and safety of employees, using a voluntary and confidential risk assessment process;
• Provide access to voluntary health and safety enhancement programs, education and resources to assist employees in managing the areas of greatest identified risk and benefit
• Monitor employee satisfaction with interventions and analyze the effect of those interventions on their health, safety and productivity
• Manage health surveillance programs
• Identify the need for pre-placement, periodic and exit health surveillance for individual employees based on job tasks, workplace risks and local regulatory requirements
• Ensure employees are informed of the results of health surveillance and their implications
• Encourage supervisors and employees to identify and report health conditions which they suspect are job-related
• Maintain confidential health records and files.
• Manage Health monitoring programs, including: pulmonary function testing, audiometric testing, vision screening, reproductive health
• Manage immunization programs
• Initiate and direct the site’s wellness activities and programs, including: mammography, PSA, blood pressure screening
• Maintain accurate records of injuries/illness and treatments
• Conduct and/or coordinate health training and health coaching for site employees
• Comply to site safety policies and guidelines.
• Comply with all local and corporate policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
Basic qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and valid New Jersey RN license
• 3-5 years experience as an Occupational Health Nurse
• Ability to read, write and speak effectively in English to communicate with users of onsite health services
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work extended hours and flexible schedule (as needed) to service employees in a 24/7 operation
• Strong administrative and organizational skills
• Demonstrated written, oral and presentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to use appropriate management principles in conflict resolution, negotiation, consensus building, problem solving, team building and change management
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and recordkeeping requirements
• Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet programs.
