Job Description
Title: Operations Supervisor
POSITION PURPOSE/FUNCTION: Coordinate the staff and activities of the Operations Department to include Patient Registration, Insurance Verification, and Edits teams to assure that all patient and insurance data is accurately and efficiently entered into the billing system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Functions:
- Assure that all required data is entered into billing system in an accurate and timely manner according to established policies and procedures
- Set clear expectations and hold staff accountable to those expectations

Monitor and maintain a high level of productivity and quality of work.

Present quality audit results to staff members and provide follow up review and training as required.

Interact with other departments (primarily Billing, Patient Services, and Collections Management) to stay abreast of payer regulatory changes that may affect insurance code selection. Communicate changes and updates to team members via policies and procedures.

Perform standard supervisory tasks such as hiring, training, performance review, conflict resolution, and disciplinary action as required, terminations, payroll, etc.
Manage the administrative aspects of the department to assure:
- Working files and policy and procedure manuals are developed and maintained
- Adequate staffing levels are achieved
- Budgetary guidelines are followed
- Workflow is efficient and effective
- High levels of morale are sustained
- Assist team members with questions concerning policies and procedures and issues with more complex accounts
- Maintain an open line of communication with Business Partners
- Maintain good teamwork and high morale within the team
- Keep upper management abreast of both sucesses and problems as they occur
Secondary Functions:
- Participate in various committees as required
- Participate in problem resolution at all levels
- Be a role model within the department by exhibiting mature leadership qualities such as a positive outlook, confidentiality, respect, and team spirit
- Assure that HIPAA compliance guidelines are followed
- Support the department by providing leadership
- Coordinate with other departments to resolve billing problems
- Maintain company call production quality and standards
- Understand EOB's and identify posting errors of payments and adjustments
- Complete Skillport training sessions in the time frame alloted by management, and maintain passing scores for the same
- Attend designated functions, when necessary, as determined by the Operations Manager
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational and/or Professional Qualifications:
- General understanding of medical billing, including insurance carrier billing requirements
- Leadership ability
- Detail oriented and organized; a self-starter capable of tracking to deadlines and meeting goals.
- Problem solver
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office Products
- High School diploma
Previous Experience:
- Minimum ten years experience in the Medical Billing Industry
- Minimum five years experience in a Supervisory role
- Knowledge of IDX billing system preferred (not required)
