Job Description
Engineer position for the development of of new and existing fiber optic communication systems for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexed (DWDM) transmission over distances up to 12,000 kilometers.
Key responsibilities will include:
- evaluation of channel prformance on the installed WDM systems
- development of specialized test methods for transmission evaluation
- perform experimental work in both laboratory and field environments.
Position is with a major telecom company.

Job Requirements
MS or PhD in electrical engineering or physics.
Educational background related to optical commununcations technology would be a plus.
- Experience in fiber optics pertaining to optical data transmission and optical amplified systems is required;
- Applicant should have extensive experience in optical measurements, test methods, computer-aided testing, and understanding of optical test equipment;
- Experience with laboratory experiments on circulating fiber optic loops is a plus;
- Familiarity with techniques for measuring BER, OSNR, PMD and other transmission parameters is required.
