GENERAL DESCRIPTION: - Under general direction, plans complex computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection.
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries.
- Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls.
- Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management.
- Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating complex databases.
- Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
- Writes and produces standardized and complex customized or ad hoc reports.
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Interacts with senior internal and external personnel.
- Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION: Bachelor degree or equivalent; US citizenship is a plus; Ability to get Public Trust security clearance is plus EXPERIENCE: Oracle 9 and 10 experience. Oracle CLI knowledge required. Knowledge and experience with extended Oracle RDBMS support features - such as RMAN, OEM or APEX (application express env). Good troubleshooting skills within and outside database environment. Good knowledge of SQL/SQL*Plus and strong understanding of PL/SQL and stored procedures/pkgs. UNIX scripting needed. Solaris and/or Linux; May require off hours / on call support for major releases. Backup & Recovery, Monitoring, Upgrades, Migrations, Patching, Log file analysis, Troubleshooting; Knowledge of Oracle parameters and interaction w/ UNIX OS. Good grasp of designing and maintaining flexible, adaptable and scalable solutions. Documentation skills for System Architecture & Design. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Database Design: Working knowledge of security, system monitoring, tuning, physical database maintenance, back-up recover procedures, upgrades, logical and physical design of database. Database Management: Working knowledge of database security, system monitoring, tuning, physical database maintenance, back-up and recovery procedures and upgrades. Documentation: Enters, transcribes, records, stores or maintains information in written or electronic form . Operations Analysis: Analyzes needs and product requirements to create a design. Test Engineering: Creates, executes, and documents the tests necessary to assure that an application or technical environment meets user functional and performance requirements. May also included automation test tools .
