About Us
Indian Rivers is a comprehensive mental health center; 100% of our services are devoted to providing mental health prevention and treatment to the citizen's of Bibb, Pickens, and Tuscaloosa counties.
Our Mental Illness division provides an array of residential services ranging from a short term crisis residential unit to supported apartment living. Our current residential capacity is 73 community based beds. We provide outpatient services such as psychotherapy and psychiatric care in locations across our service area. We provide case management and skills training service to those's working toward recovery but continue to require supports to maintain independent living status within the community. We also provide crisis intervention service available 24 hours, 7 days per week for those in psychiatric crisis.
Our Mental Retardation division provides residential service to 62 individuals living in the community in a supervised setting. Community based skills training is also provided to more that 120 additional individuals.
Essential Job Duties for Therapist
1. Schedule intake; determine the need for treatment and treatment modalities
indicated in a timely manner.
2. Evaluate/screen consumers’ presenting complaints and mental status and
document appropriately.
3. Coordinate appropriate referrals to inter- or intra-agency resources, when
appropriate.
4. Create and implement individualized treatment plans with consumer involvement.
Goals should be patient action oriented, measurable, observable, and attainable.
5. Provide individual, group, and family therapy and crisis intervention to individuals
within the catchment area as needed. All such services must be “medically
necessary”.
6. Complete treatment plan reviews, assessing goals, objectives and consumer
compliance for the re-certification of services if indicated. Recertification of the
service must be supported by documentation of benefit in the consumer’s record.
7. Assume responsibility for assigned consumer caseload as determined by the
Clinical Director.
8. Provide direction for Pickens County Prevention Services.
9. Work collaboratively with co-therapists to establish (and adhere) to a structured,
daily schedule, which benefits consumer population and staff.
10. Complete all individual and group notes within established times per Indian Rivers’
policy, clearly identifying the goals addressed, the type of intervention offered, and
the consumer’s response.
11. Attend treatment team meetings as assigned.
Job Requirements
1. Masters degree in behavioral sciences required.
2. At least 2 years experience in a community mental health setting preferred.
3. LCSW required. (2nd position licence preferred)
