Under immediate direction, provides prompt, efficient and friendly services to customers, involving receipt and payment of cash, and to recognize customers needs with suggestions appropriate to the banks services. Follows established policies for this area, in accordance with the bank and the supervisors direction. Process deposits and pays out funds in accordance with bank procedures, to record all transactions accurately and balance each days operations.

Responsibilities and Duties

Receives cash and checks for deposit, verifies amounts, and looks for check endorsements. Examines cash carefully to guard against acceptance of counterfeit bills and counterfeit identification. Cashes checks for customers after verifying identification and checking account balances in accordance with bank policy. Enters transactions into computer and issue customer receipts. Counts cash balance at required times and at the end of shift at times before shift.

Sells and prepares money orders, cashiers checks, bank-to-bank wires, savings bonds, travelers checks and certificates of deposit. Explains bank services and charges to customers. Approving checks and assisting with balancing. Assisting with scheduling and preparing various monthly reports. Processes western union wires, utility payments, and cash advances. Opens various types of accounts (DDA, Savings, etc).

Verifies and processes changes to existing accounts. Processes customer check orders. Cross-sells bank products and services. Performs other duties as assigned.

Must have good customer service and sales skills. Must also have good communication and organizational skills. Must have the ability to enter numerical data on computer with speed and accuracy, keyboarding skills a plus. Good mathematical aptitude to facilitate daily balancing.

Education
High School Graduate or GED

Personal Characteristics

Minimum Qualifications
Must possess 6 months cash handling, customer service, and/or sales experience.
