Position Summary
Dallas organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Supervisor to join their team. The successful candidate will assume the payroll processing responsibility for a population of 3,000 hourly, non-exempt salary and exempt salaried employees. The selected candidate should have at least 5 years progressive payroll experience in a paperless environment and possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Must have solid analytical, troubleshooting and decision making skills.
Under direction of the Payroll Manager, the selected candidate will supervise all functions of the Payroll Department including the direct supervision of up to three Payroll team members. This position requires exceptional organization skills with the ability to effectively establish priorities and manage deadlines in a team environment. Must be ambitious, motivated and possess great attention to detail.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong payroll background and good supervisory skills to excel in a team environment. This is a high visibility position requiring regular interaction with all levels of management and intercompany resources.
Responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining payroll system set up and structure to include, but not limited to, earnings and deduction codes, pay groups, workers compensation tables, unemployment rates and tax tables.
- Liaise with the Finance department regarding general ledger inquiries, bank reconciliations, SOX issues, etc.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local payroll laws and regulations
- Establish and maintain processes within the payroll area to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Work closely with Senior Payroll Specialist to achieve a productive work environment for the payroll team.
- Ensure appropriate payroll journal entries are prepared
- Audit time records and maintenance in Time & Attendance system.
- Respond to auditing and regulatory inquiries
- Manage monthly, quarterly and annual tax reporting requirements for Federal, State and Local payroll taxes.

Job Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:
- At least five years of heavy payroll experience in a multi-company, multi-state computerized environment with 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience handling payroll in an organization of 2,000+ employees.
- Excellent working knowledge of administering timekeeping and workforce management software strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, knowledge of Access, Crystal Reports and SQL.
- Familiarity with SOX 404 compliance controls, documentation and testing.
- Ability to manage priorities and deadlines with constant interruptions.
- Payroll conversion and implementation experience is preferred.
- Prior payroll experience utilizing Ultimate Software is strongly preferred.
- A Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred, but not required.
