Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Perioperative Educator is responsible for clinical education of all staff members within the OR and perioperative patient care areas, including orientation program for new hires and transfers; responsible for promoting growth and development of the staff through inservice programs, instruction, role modeling and consultation; works as a resource person for staff by providing current information on Perioperative nursing, based on current literature; disseminates current Perioperative nursing research which provides an environment for innovative changes in Perioperative systems.
Job Requirements
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Completion of a recognized course of study from an accredited School of Nursing . BSN required, MSN preferred.
Required Length and Type of Experience: Registered nurses must have three to five years current OR experience Demonstrated OR specialty experience Teaching experience preferred Preceptor experience preferred in hospital with preceptor program
Required Licensure, Certification or Registry: Must be currently licensed to practice in the State of Ohio .
BCLS certification in all areas or must obtain same within first year of employment; BCLS instructor preferred. CNOR required.
Required Physical and Environmental Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50-100 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range; requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
