The Pilot Plant Technician will focus on the development of carbon and graphite materials and the processes required in manufacturing them. The candidate will have an understanding of laboratory and pilot plant equipment and processes as they relate to product development. This position will be responsible for collecting and recording data with an understanding of statistical principles. The candidate will adhere to the established health and safety procedures at the R&D facility and perform related duties as assigned to achieve the department’s objectives. Travel to other GrafTech and customers’ production facilities to assist in plant trials or field test observations may be required.
Job Requirements
- 1-7 years of development/research/industrial experience involving pilot plant scale up experiments, use of equipment, processing, or equipment design, or equivalent.

A working knowledge of manufacturing procedures and equipment.

Proficient in basic computer software applications for equipment control, data collection and analysis.

Demonstrated good mechanical skills.

Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail work.

Independent work is carried out in a team environment, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills.

This position is primarily second shift and the ability to rotate between first and second shift will be required.

Technical degree in a physical sciences field is preferred, such as Chemistry, Physics or Engineering.
