Job Description


Koch Fertilizer, LLC and its subsidiaries own and invest in nitrogen fertilizer production and storage capacity in North America, Europe, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. The company's fertilizer interests manufacture, market and distribute more than 8 million metric tons of nitrogen products annually. Koch Nitrogen Company, LLC owns and operates facilities in Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska which produce anhydrous ammonia, UAN and urea. Koch Fertilizer Canada ULC, operates a production facility in Brandon, Manitoba which produces primarily anhydrous ammonia, ammonium nitrate, UAN and urea. In addition, Koch Fertilizer, LLC owns storage and terminaling assets in northwest Europe with trading offices in Switzerland, France and United Kingdom.

The Koch Nitrogen Company Plant Manager at the Ft. Dodge, Iowa facility is responsible for the manufacturing of Ammonia and UAN products, meeting market demands cost effectively and meeting stake holder expectations. These expectations along with the required attributes are as follows:
  • Safety of the community and plant personnel - Have a passion to be an industry leader in safety performance. This passion must be driven by the belief that the facility can operate injury free.
  • Environmental stewardship - Drive to exceed environmental performance standards by having a working knowledge of the local, state and federal regulations that apply to the facility, staying abreast of emerging issues and concerns and constantly seeking improvement in the systems used to drive environmental excellence.
  • Plant Production Performance - Meet production and quality goals cost effectively by attracting, developing and retaining valued personnel and focusing on equipment reliability as a key component supporting a safe work place, protecting the environment, meeting production targets and waste elimination.
  • Capital Management â€" A strong desire to capture opportunities that maximize profitability.
  • The Plant Manager will align with KNC capability leaders to drive continuous improvement efforts that will increase performance in all categories across Koch Nitrogen Company.


    Job Requirements

  • Ability to support the needs of a manufacturing facility that operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. 
  • Availability for weekend work and travel, including air travel 
  • 10+ years experience in key leadership roles supporting a continuous process chemical manufacturing facility. 
  • Safety - Working knowledge of the safety programs and process needed to support an injury free work place. This includes experience with implementing and improving systems as required by OSHA 1910.119. 
  • Environmental - Experience in improving environmental performance. This experience should include becoming knowledgeable with local, state and federal regulations and working within and improving the systems required to sustain a compliant facility. 
  • Operations - First hand experience leading an operations group. This experience should include developing, implementing and improving procedure, training and certification programs and processes supporting excellence in operations and equipment reliability. 
  • Human Resources - Attracting, selecting, and developing personnel. 
  • Capital Management - Opportunity identification, justification and execution. 
  • Strategic Management - Developing and implementing the strategic plans necessary to drive the organization to meet and exceed the performance goals of the company. 
  • BS in Engineering from an accredited institution 

    Preferred 
  • Experience in the manufacturing of Ammonia and UAN 
  • Development and successful implementation of a major change initiatives 
  • BS in Chemical Engineering with a Minor or Masters degree in Business Administration from an accredited institution
