The Position

 

The Process Engineer reports directly to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for planning and executing all capital and plant related projects at diatomaceous earth (DE) facilities located in Northern Nevada (Reno & Lovelock) and Oregon (Vale).

 

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Capital Projects:  Develop, budget, coordinate resources, plan execution and ensure process or maintenance related projects will perform as designed and are completed according to schedule and costs.

Plant Upgrades: Ensures that all plant upgrades and installation of equipment are properly engineered to fully integrate within existing sites and achieve designed functionality. Each must be completed according to schedule and within budgetary guidelines.

Mechanical Integrity: Define and implement a mechanical integrity program for pressure vessels, compressors, pumps, rotating equipment, blowers, seal valves and other process equipment.  Develop appropriate contingency plans to address future issues.  Document and present findings of work so that Best Practices can be shared and implemented across sites.

  • Electrical Infrastructure:  Address major electrical infrastructure issues at the site and develop appropriate contingency plans.  Issues may include but are not limited to:  thermography programs, junction boxes, cable trays, sub stations, transformers, etc.
  • People: Coordinate efforts of the plant engineering teams to ensure projects are executed effectively according to budget and scope of project.

Job Requirements

The Candidate

The Process Engineer must have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in a manufacturing culture focused on safety, reliability, and process improvement.  Ideally this experience will include industrial minerals processing or continuous process manufacturing where dry powders were processed and handled.  Experience should include a minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in an engineering and/or leadership capacity.

 

The ideal candidate will also have the desire and potential to develop into a broader management role, either in engineering, maintenance, or production management.

 

Other requirements include:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Ability to execute strategic capital projects
  • Ability to lead teams and direct efforts of contractors
  • Experience with Instrumentation systems / programs
  • Exceptional organization skills
  • Passion for results and demand for excellence
  • Good computer skills, Microsoft Office applications.
