Firmenich has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to be part of a flavor plant start-up. We have a an opening for a Process Safety Engineer

This is a highly visible key position reporting to the Manager of Plant Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the site Process Safety Management program and providing process safety engineering expertise to the facilities.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Lead the site PSM team and coordinate other team members' PSM activities
.

* Manage the site PHA program, including: schedule reviews, coordinate teams,

assess adequacy of results, and manage recommendations.

* Lead or participate in PHA's of key existing operations and new projects.

* Coordinate the site Management of Change program, and provide Process Safety

expertise in evaluating plant modification proposals.

* Provide process safety expertise on new plant projects in such areas as inherently

safer designs, controls & interlocks, fire & building codes, etc.

* Manage the site pressure relief system design program. Design or coordinate design

of new or modified relief systems, including defining upset scenarios.

* Serve as functional expert for process safety related incident investigations.

* Coordinate PSM self-assessments and compliance audits.

* Contribute to development of company-wide process safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have a background in plant-level process engineering and experience or strong interest in process safety and PSM.
The following qualifications are expected:

* BS degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.

* Minimum of 5 years experience in a chemical manufacturing environment. Familiarity with batch and continuous reactions, distillations, and use of hazardous materials is desired.

* Understanding of PSM regulations and applications.

* Some experience with managing and/or conducting PHA's.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as this position will interact with all levels of the organization.

* Strong technical and computing skills.

* Effectiveness in managing multiple projects and priorities.

* Must be able to travel as required (occasional).
