Job Description
Phillips & Temro Industries is a leading engineer to manufacture organization with a diverse product line. Our expertise ranges from the design and manufacture of engine starting and comfort products for the automotive and heavy duty truck industries to the manufacture of engineered- to-order silencers and emissions products for the power generation, off-highway, and gas compression markets.
The Project Engineer, as part of the Cold Weather Division, is based at the corporate headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN and plays an integral role in the design of engine starting and comfort products. The successful candidate will:
- Responsible for the design of new products and modification and improvements to existing products from concept to full production.
- Utilize project management skills to meet project milestones.
- Leads cross-functional teams through all phases of product development and release.
- Provides project status & risk assessments across company.
- Involved in maintaining and advancing relationships with customers. Travels to customer, as needed for design support. Annual travel 10% to 15%.
- Works closely with all other departments within the company to ensure that product design meets their expectations. (i.e. reliability, manufacturability, aesthetics, customer requirements, regulatory requirements, etc.)
- Conducts or directs lab tests and makes professional judgments with respect to lab testing.
- Leads prototyping process including definition, sourcing, & execution.
- Keeps informed as to developments in competitive product offerings, and in material/manufacturing advancements as they apply to the company.
- Keeps informed as to customer markets as they affect PTI’s product portfolio.
- Provides technical assistance, with respect to product application, to internal and external marketing representatives and customers.
- Leads project documentation in compliance with PTI’s quality system implementation.
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will be a degreed engineer with a minimum of five years of product design/project management experience. electro-mechanical products and heating product experience is a plus. Experience in any of the following areas would be considered an asset: FEA, ISO/QS9000, APQP, FMEA, DOE, DFA, GD&T, ProE/Solidworks/ACAD, CAD, metal forming, die-casting and injection molding.
