We are currently seeking a talented Property and Casualty Staff Underwriter for our San Antonio, TX facility.

As a Property and Casualty Staff Underwriter for USAA you will develop, implement, and maintain P&C underwriting programs, policies, and processes.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Develops and implements innovative solutions and processes to achieve P&C strategic underwriting performance objectives.
  • Maintains the relevance of P&C underwriting programs and policies as they relate to the industry, regulatory environment, competitive marketplace, and internal strategic objectives.
  • Serves in an advisory capacity to other internal staff and operational agencies.
  • Provides analytical support by monitoring and evaluating underwriting programs, policies, and processes as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent P&C insurance industry experience.
  • 1 year of P&C industry underwriting experience.
  • Sound technical and professional insurance knowledge including industry trends, regulatory requirements, and company operations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Power Point.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in job related field.
  • 2+ years of experience developing P&C underwriting programs or guidelines.
  • Job related education and/or self development including pursuit of CPCU designation.
  • Fully trained in all P&C lines.
  • Auto, Property and Umbrella contract knowledge.
  • Previous experience coordinating/organizing projects. Ideally, specific history of successfully leading projects or initiatives that significantly impact operational results.
  • Recent operational underwriting experience.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
