Job Description
Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions is looking for an experienced psychometrician to measure and validate student learning needs and progress against program goals, as well as analyze and evaluate existing tests and results.
Responsibilities will include:
- Work with professional from content development and technology to establish formal psychometric procedures including definition of technology workflows and business process requirements for systematic data delivery and evaluation
- Work independently to plan, coordinate, and perform statistical analyses, score reporting and prediction including calculation of item parameters for 2 and 3 parameter models. Identify item bias in subpopulations
- Identify and manage all research projects related to test development with the goal of improving the quality of the tests.
- Determine research sample requirements for statistical validation of models for new assessments
- Work closely with cross-function staff to communicate any problems and find solutions to resolve them
- Mentor content development staff in item selection procedures
- Write technical reports and white papers
Required:
- 5+ years experience as a psychometrician preferably in the assessment industry
- Ph.D. or ABD in Educational Measurement or related field
- Excellent communications skills, with the ability to generate clear and comprehensive reports to cross-function departments and customers with variant levels of scientific and technical skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Expertise with principles of research methodology, including experimental study designs
- Ability to work on complex statistical problems using a variety of statistical methods
- Experience with psychometric analytic techniques (SEM, IRT, Computer Adaptive Testing) for summative, formative and diagnostic assessments
- Strong skills in SAS or SPSS with longitudinal analysis skills
