Responsibilities & Qualifications:Primary responsibilities include: Purchasing Manager sets the strategic course and goals of the Purchasing Department commodity Staff under the direction of the Director of Procurement. Primary goals are to provide internal customers with professional sourcing strategies, a reliable quality oriented supply base, and drive cost improvement initiatives. This position reports directly to the Director of Procurement and functions within a larger supply-chain function. The manager will negotiate with the Supply base for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment and services used by Medical Products and supervise the activities of the commodity management staff. Essential Functions: - Develop purchasing strategy in support of overall business objectives.
- Establishes interfaces within business to provide support & includes input from engineering, product development, manufacturing & suppliers.
- Leads a team of sourcing professionals in the selection and maintenance of the Supply base required for the medical business.
- Achieve department financial, operational, and quality results.
- Develop cross-functional cost reduction program to support business objectives.
- Drive strategic supplier selection to ensure best-in-class suppliers capable of supporting product programs, supply base rationalization and sourcing strategies.
- Lead, develop, and maintain a highly capable team of Commodity/Category Managers.
Minimum Qualifications Include: - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Proven negotiation skills required
- Practical knowledge of formal procurement processes, methodologies
- SAP, JD Edwards and / or BPCS experience is desirable
- CPM or APICS Certification a plus
- Ability to travel approximately 10%.
- Comprehensive understanding of FDA compliance guidelines, IS0 13485 preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage & motivate others
- Understanding of the following commodities: screw machine, custom machine, wire, electronics desired.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate, communicate, & implement short & long-term strategies for commodities, components & services desired.
- Minimum 7 years of direct purchasing experience in medical equipment or related environment
- Experience in creating, leading & driving teams.
- Experience in effectively managing both internal & external relationships with cross-functional groups & suppliers desired.
