Job Description

JOB TITLE:              Quality Control Technician

REPORTS TO:        Chief Chemist

POSITION OBJECTIVE:   To ensure that quality standards are met for raw materials, dispersions, emulsions and finished compounds.  Advises production as needed to bring compound into specification.

DUTIES:

1.    Performs quality tests on incoming raw materials versus established standards.  Advises of any discrepancies or problems.

2.    Performs quality tests on the following products versus established standards.  Advises of any discrepancies or problems.  Testing includes such properties as pH, total solids, froth, tensile properties, etc.

a.    Dispersions

b.    Emulsions

c.    Compounds

3.    Prepares product samples as needed.

4.    Prepares SPC data for selected customers as required.

5.    Maintains product specification sheets.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Follows safe laboratory practices in the handling, use and storage of all chemicals.

2.    Maintains high level of housekeeping.

3.    Sends Certificates of Analysis to customers as required.

4.    Assists chemists in compound preparation as needed.

5.    Maintains all appropriate test records.

6.    Serves as internal auditor for the Quality System.  Maintains Quality System Objectives and performance reports.

7.    Maintains all MSDS files.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.            High school diploma or GED.  Some college courses preferred.

2.            Minimum of two (2) years relevant laboratory experience.

3.            Able to lift 40 lbs. from floor level to waist height.

4.            Able to speak/read/write English.

5.            Has good computer skills; proficient in MS Excel and Word.
