TITLE: REFRACTORY SPECIALIST
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL â€" PROPRIETARY EQUIPMENT
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Provide support in the design and installation of refractory systems/components used in the development and implementation of new technology or improvements to existing technology.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ï‚· Take direction from management and senior engineers.
ï‚· Design refractory linings for gas based equipment, furnaces, ductwork, and heating exchange equipment including material selection, basic and detailed design, specifications and requisitions, and follow up with problems related to expediting and installation.
ï‚· Supervise refractory repairs for plant shutdowns.
ï‚· Assist plants in technical and application refractory evaluations.
ï‚· Supervise new plant refractory installations.
 Work as a “team player" with all company departments and employees on all assignments. Work toward
building consensus on all assignments by finding solutions which meet the best interests of all parties involved.
Job Requirements
Refractory Specialist
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate engineering degree preferred. Minimum of five years hands-on experience in refractory design including some CAD mechanical design experience. Minimum of five years of experience in field installation and supervision of field installation of refractory. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Ability to move around project sites, including climbing on structures and moving in and around equipment.
Ability to supervise field erection activities including supplying technical and installation assistance for equipment used in the DR industry.
