Hill View Retirement Center was founded under the auspices of, and is related to the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. It is a not-for-profit corporation that has been in operation since 1975. Hill View is a continuing care retirement community situated on twenty beautifully landscaped acres. Three levels of living are available to those who reside here. Independent living apartments and cottages, in addition to assisted living and nursing home rooms, are occupied by over 300 fine people from our area and throughout the United States. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

 

Provides assistance to residents with personal care, including showers, dressing, AM and PM care.

 

Assists residents with ambulation, toileting, and other activities of daily living.

 

Answers call lights as needed.

 

Assists residents to dining room at meal times. Picks up and returns meal trays to Nutrition Services for residents who eat meals in their rooms. Assists residents in filling out menus as needed.

 

Passes resident snacks.

 

Assists residents with meal trays as needed.

 

Assists residents with group and individual activities as needed.

 

Makes rounds to check on residents at least once every two hours.

 

Makes resident beds and changes linens as required.

 

Delivers meal trays to residents in Independent Living residents who are unable to go to dining room, as assigned.

 

Performs housekeeping duties for the unit, including but not limited to:

- Cleaning resident rooms

- Shampoo carpets as needed

- Clean and defrost refrigerators

- Disinfect bathrooms - Empty trash

- Check room temperatures

- Clean common areas, solariums, hallways, and lounges

- Clean nourishment rooms, microwave, and coffee maker

- Clean shower rooms and whirlpool

 

Performs housekeeping duties for the following areas as assigned: Kindergarten room, 2nd floor lobby, and Wesley Village beauty shop.

 

Performs laundry duties for the unit, including but not limited to:

- Washes and dries resident’s personal clothing, as needed

- Folds and hangs laundry

- Distributes resident’s personal clothing back to their rooms

- Washes, dries and folds unit towels, sheets, and linen in main laundry room

- Empties dryer lint traps every shift.

 

Re-stocks personal care supplies and linens.

 

Delivers mail to residents.

 

Answers telephone as needed, using proper telephone etiquette.

 

Obtains resident weights as assigned.

 

Communicates with charge nurse about any unusual observations or change in condition of residents.

 

Prepares room for new admission. Assists charge nurse with admission process.

 

Assists charge nurse with resident discharges/transfers. Cleans resident room after discharge.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates good interpersonal and communication skills. The employee must be able to organize work activities with minimal supervision. Must be able to set priorities and plan workload independently.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Must have completed at least two years of high school. High school diploma or GED certificate preferred. Formal experience in personal care and housekeeping preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must have the ability to write simple correspondence. Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to residents, families, and employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Must have ability to solve practical problems and concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and speak and listen to residents. Occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds, and may occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
