Division: CHRISTUS Spohn Health Region Work Schedule: Rotating Days Nights Average Hours per Week: 24 (0.6 FTE) Travel Involved: 41-50% Job Type: Part-Time Relocation package offered: Category: Respiratory Care Neonatal Transport Therapist is responsible for assisting the transport Nurse in the delivery of care to patients requiring transports. This would include all aspects of critical care delivery in the transport environment.Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards, and techniques. Demonstrates knowledge in accordance with Christus Health policies and procedures within pertinent laws and regulations in the following areas:1. Assists the transport nurse in assessing, evaluating, and anticipating problems in the acutely ill neonate and capably implements emergency treatment as indicated, within Christus Health protocols and guidelines. 2. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of transport protocols.3. Must maintain excellent critical care skills.4. Participates in public relations functions.5. Maintains Respiratory Care Practitioner skills. 6. Demonstrates thorough knowledge base with the operation, maintenance and trouble shooting of transport medical equipment and supplies. Inspects all essential equipment on his/her duty shift for function and presence, replacing inventory used or assuring repairs are made when indicated.7. When not actively involved in transport activities, projects or floating into the Hospital, the transport therapist shall seek opportunities to improve their clinical knowledge base by: Participating in a.m. rounds with the adult or neonatal staff, attending high risk deliveries, participating in the delivery of Nitric Oxide and assisting with/practicing intubations. 8. Maintains clinical hours & intubation requirements at all times.9. Job Requirements
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school Registered Respiratory Therapist credentialed by National Board for Respiratory Care Current Respiratory Care Practitioner License issued by the Texas Department of Health Current BLS for Healthcare Provider certification ACLS required within 90 days S.T.A.B.L.E. Certification required within 90 days of employment. N.R.P. required E.M.T. or Paramedic Certification preferred
