Job Description
Works under minimal supervision to provide technical skills in operation and support of UTSW Laser Program. Maintains compliance with regulatory agencies and national guidelines.
Will assist in the safe operations of the UTSW Laser program including the disciplines of Med/Surg, specialities in Cardio-Thor. Derm, Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmology, OB/GYN, Oral Surgery, Orthopedics, OTO and Urology. Evaluates recommendations for purchase, routine maintenance and repair, documentation, registration, utilization, disposal and administration of Medical Lasers on the UTSW campus. Monitor operation of Laser usage for compliance of national, state and institutional regulations. Performs medical staff education, priviledge/credentialing for lasers utilized in Surgery and medical research at UTSW Hospitals.
Job Requirements
Associates degree in area specific to the position, such as Fire and Occupational Safety, Radiation Safety, or Hazardous Materials Management and two (2) years directly related experience, including one (1) year as Safety Technician II or equivalent.
