Job Description

Sales Engineers are responsible for increasing custom rotational molding sales and market share with key end user and OEM companies in our regional markets with new as well as existing accounts.

The position will have diverse sales, distribution management and market development responsibilities.

 

Rotational molding sales tends to be a regional business, due in part by, its need for proximity between our manufacturing sites and customer locations.

Our Sales Engineers are also responsible for Field Market Development and Application Development Engineering. 

It is a technical sale where the Sales Engineer utilizes an engineering skill to help the customer develop an application idea, article, or project into rotomolding feasibility.

 

Primary Markets and applications are designated as Material Handling, Custom Molding, Linen and Laundry, Lighting, Refuse and Tanks.

 

Contract Manufacturing includes, but not limited to, Marine OEM, Medical Waste, Carousel Horses, Furniture, Garden & Patio, Kayaks & Canoes, Lamp Posts and Gas lamp Globes, Caskets, Gas Tanks, Landscaping, Irrigation and all other.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage new and on-going business, as well as, identify prime targets with Linen & Laundry customers, end-users and/or OEM’s.

  • Identify new molding opportunities within the Linen & Laundry market and specify objectives using Applications Development techniques.

  • Mutually develop MBO’s (Management by Objectives) with the Director of Marketing to measure successful performance of the sales plan, new market application, identification and feasibility for roto-molding.

  • Plan and carry out direct sales, marketing, and product development activities to agreed budgets, sales volumes, and timelines.

  • Sell and market through direct sales and distribution.

  • Plan and conduct market related trade shows.

  • Report to Director of Marketing, and communicate with Corporate Management and plant personnel on a regular basis to ensure sales activity is congruent with company objectives.

  • Develop market information required to propose new products.

  • Create cost sheets and develop pricing for existing and new products.

  • Assess competition and competitive products and markets.

  • Coordinate sales efforts with other divisions to optimize efficiencies.

  • Recommend product inventory levels as required.

  • Participate in the design and development of advertising and sales literature.

  • Consult with Director of Marketing on matters relating to pricing, marketing, budgets, and long and short term planning.

  • Maintain customer prospect computerized database on account management software.

  • Recommend inventory levels for both finished and raw materials.

  • Participate in monthly inventory.

  • Attend weekly production meeting and report on status of monthly sales forecast.

  • Complete required monthly reporting, forecast preparation and account receivable collection on a timely basis.

  • Responsible for adhering to company policies and safety standards.

  • Perform other such duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

  • Strong entrepreneurial, commercial judgment, planning and organizational skills. 
  • Established track record of value-added selling success and negotiation skills.
  • Advanced target industry experience and continuity.
  • BSE preferred in mechanical or engineering design related to tooling and or plastic part creation and rotomolding feasibility determination.
  • Minimum of 10 years of successful experience in rotational molding sales combined with Application Development Engineering (ADE) or Field Market Development (FMD) capabilities. Alternatively the same successful experience in a directly relatable plastics manufacturing process such as Injection Molding, Blow Molding, Thermoforming of large parts.
  • Successful candidate will have strong commercial contacts with related companies in the Linen & Laundry markets served by plastics manufacturing with the ability to close new business identify more with continuity.
  • Linen & Laundry technical knowledge in plastic rotational molding and/or tooling preferred or required in certain markets.
  • High level plastics industry contacts and trade show involvement.
  • Creative, high energy, entrepreneurial self-starter who is dedicated to get things done.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel and Power Point and contact.
  • Team building skills with various disciplines in a high growth environment characterized by innovation, significant participation and change.
 

TRAVEL:

 

  • Able to travel up to 30% of the time with overnight travel expected.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the standards to rent a vehicle for travel purposes.
