Merry Maids was founded in 1979 in Omaha, Neb., by Dallen Peterson. Dallen worked with his wife, Glennis; their children; and his twin brother Dale to create the Merry Maids system and franchise the company.
In 1988, ServiceMaster purchased Merry Maids from the Petersons. All of the ServiceMaster companies specialize in home services, so Merry Maids has been a natural fit for ServiceMaster from the beginning. Sales Representative Summary
Generates sales revenue by prospecting and adding new customers as well as up selling additional services
Essential Functions of Sales Representative includes :
- Compiles list of prospective customers for use as leads based on information from ads, community activities and other resources
- Sells services to new and existing customers
- Conducts sales calls to customer homes
- Conducts sales bids at convenience of customer (including nights and weekends)
- Promotes sell of additional services
- Follows procedures for appropriate pricing of bids
- Calculates price quote for customer based on in-home inspection of area
- Meets branch standards in bid conversion, customer retention, $/quarter, product mix, etc.
- Correctly completes bid sheets and legibly documents customer preferences, credit card information, detailed instructions and directions to the customer home
- Conducts follow-up of leads through telephone and person-to-person contact
- Maintains appropriate sales reports and submits reports in a timely manner
- Maintain adequate inventory of sales supplies and customer incentives

Requirements for Entry level Sales Representative :
Qualifications:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience:
- One to two years of college preferred. High school diploma or GED required.
- One to two years of professional sales experience with proven track record required.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business procedures.
- Ability to write reports, business and customer correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to customer questions.
Computer Skills:
- Basic computer skills including Word and Excel.
- Keyboarding
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as averages, percentages, discounts, commissions and volume.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule format.
