Currently, we seek a Scientist, Principal - ClinicalBASIC PURPOSE: Plan, organize and perform experiments to implement, develop and refine state-of-the-art assays. Train and provide scientific direction to laboratory scientists of various levels as needed.. Provide project management leadership for designated teams of laboratory personnel. Support test movement in operations.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide direction and guidance to clinical lab medical technologists and technicians and other technical personnel implementing, in a timely manner, clinical diagnostic products or services in compliance with industry regulations.
- Conduct assay system development, optimization and validation.
- Run experiments to evaluate new laboratory instrumentation and equipment for laboratory testing in cooperation with the equipment manufacturer.
- Prepare technical SOP's as required for Lab Ops and Medical Director review and approval.
- Prepare assay validation reports and other assay-related documentation as required by state and federal regulations.
- Work closely with Informatics personnel to develop computer programs and databases as required for assay execution, automation and data management.
- Assist and/or coordinate technical transfer of new assays and procedures to appropriate department.
- In close cooperation with chemistry department managers, assist, as needed, in the training of laboratory personnel on new procedures. (general chemistry, special chemistry, immuno-chemistry)
- Assist licensed Medical Technologists and Technicians in solving unresolved technical difficulties in assay implementation and routine operation, when such problems arise.
- Provide team leadership for designated personnel assigned to specific projects by the Lab Ops Director or Chemistry Technical Managers..
- Keep Lab Ops Director and Technical Managers informed about status of on going projects.
- Prepare written and oral presentations of scientific updates for presentation at meetings and conferences.
- Maintain awareness of current and developing technologies.
- Interact with Academic Associates and other outside sources of emerging technologies, science and materials.
- Provide input to annual review for personnel supervised while working on special projects.

Ph.D. in Clinical Chemistry or closely related field, required. 2. Eligibility for New York State Dept of Health Certificate of Qualification in Clinical Chemistry, Special Chemistry or Immunochemistry required. 3. 5-7 years relevant experience in a clinical or research laboratory. 4. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, project management software, scientific computing and accessing scientific resources on the Internet. 5. Proven ability to accomplish technical tasks both independently and as a member of a team. ._________________________________________________________________________________ EDUCATION: Ph.D. in Clinical Chemistry or closely related field Requirement. Eligibility for New York State Dept. of Health Certificae of Qualification in Clinical Chemistry. WORK EXPERIENCE: 5-7 Years relevant experience in a research and development laboratory. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers, including work processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, project management software, scientific computing and accessing scientific resources on the internet. Programming experience preferred but not required. Proven ability to accomplish technical tasks both independently and as a member of a research team. Must be hands-on and comfortable with instrumentation.
