Senior Claims Agent or Claims Agent DOE #3885
Position located in PSE Tacoma Service Center

PSE's Risk and Claims department is looking for a Senior Claims Agent or Claims Agent, depending on experience, to join our team. This job contributes to PSE's success By providing prompt and thorough investigation and resolution of assigned damage and liability claims forwarded by Claims Agents, Claims Representatives and/or assigned by Claims Manager; with specific focus on property damage, working with insurance carriers, and attorneys. This position may require 24-hour availability for emergency investigation call-outs.

We are looking for someone who can investigate, evaluate and resolve, within assigned level of authority property damage claims, to include complex business-loss claims, motor vehicle claims and fire-loss claims against PSE. This role will also be responsible for reviewing damage claims for write-off, referral to collection agency or Litigation Administrator for assignment to subrogation attorney.

The ideal candidate will be able to professionally interface with and assign damage claims to collection agencies as well as be able to file and effect collection of damage claims and defends PSE on liability claims in small claims court. This will require the Senior Claims Agent or Claims Agent to represent PSE in Small Claims Court in matters involving pursuit of damage-claim recovery and/or defense of liability claims against PSE and may be required to testify on behalf of PSE in District and Superior Court proceedings related to incident investigations. This position will also be responsible for the maintenance of complex database/spreadsheets to support damage-claim billing and collection process.

Qualifications:

Required:
* Five years experience in utility operations or claims adjusting
* Demonstrated working knowledge of civil justice system.
* High level of interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in high-stress conditions, must be highly motivated, disciplined and a self-starter.
*Demonstrated knowledge of civil justice system.
*Strong organization and interpersonal skills.

Desired:
*Five years experience in multi-line claims adjusting or utility claims adjusting.
* Associate in Claims (AIC) designation and/or independent adjuster's license (experience in lieu of professional designations may be considered).
* Demonstrated working knowledge of insurance subrogation practices, Company's operating tariffs, Washington State statutes and administrative regulations
* BA/BS in Business or Accounting.
*Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
