Job Description
The PB office in Newark, NJ has a position available for a structural engineer. Under supervision, the candidate would perform routine assignments that are clearly defined and require the application of standard structural engineering techniques and procedures.
Additional duties will include assisting more experienced engineers and supervising less experienced engineers and drafters; performing routine engineering functions; coordinating design activities with other disciplines, preparing basic sketches and calculations in support of design engineering activities; gathering and recording information to be used for writing specifications, preparing design drawings, and developing cost estimates; reviewing vendor drawings to assure compliance with specifications; preparing technical reports; and working within budgets and schedules.
This individual will also participate in field visits and inspections.
Job Requirements
A minimum of ten (10) years of bridge design experience is required. Railroad bridge design experience is also preferred. Familiarity with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and/or AREMA is preferred. Proficient in general structural analysis programs such as STAAD or LARSA. Proficient in office software such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Microstation as well as other structural analysis and design software is a plus. Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
Education Required: A BSCE degree from an accredited college/university and PE registration are required. A graduate degree in Structures is a plus.
