Senior Systems Engineer - VMWare/SAN/Windows
The initial 4-6 month contract engagement will support a global multi million dollar investment in IT infrastructure and technology for CBTS Solutions Group. Reporting to the IT Manager for the target location, the successful candidate will be expected to provide hands-on technical implementation and project management to ensure the on-time/on-budget completion of this initiative.
Key responsibilities include:
- To work within the IT Support Team providing strong technical assistance for the implementation and support of UNIX/Linux infrastructures
- To work within the IT Support Team providing strong technical assistance for the implementation and support of Windows & VMware infrastructures
- Working on SAN attached Storage, primarily NetApp and HP EVA Systems
- Troubleshooting faults that may occur within our clients UNIX, Windows, Networking & VMware environments
- Utilising Service Management tools to track incidents and problems
- Participation in root cause analysis of problems identified
- Technical consultation on UNIX, Windows, Networking & VMware related projects
- Operate regular preventative maintenance tasks on the IT environment
- Liaising with project managers and customers with regard to project work
- Liaising with external support suppliers to resolve faults e.g. HP, Dell, SUN & IBM
Job Requirements
Candidates must possess:
- In depth experience in operational support of a multi-platform environment.
- In depth knowledge of administration of Linux, Windows & VMware technologies including design and implementation expertise
- In depth knowledge of administration of Storage Area Network technologies including Fibre-Channel and NFS solutions including design and implementation expertise
- Willingness to accommodate flexible working hours when required to ensure project implementation does not impact product environments
Experience of the following would be desirable:
- In depth "hands on" exposure to Citrix technologies.
- In depth "hands on" exposure to NetApp Storage systems
- In depth "hands on" exposure to Brocade Fabric Switching/Zoning
- Working knowledge of Oracle RDBMS solutions
- Working knowledge of Cisco ASA/PIX or CheckPoint Firewalls
