Job Description
Large Manufacturing Company in business for over 30 years has an opportunity for a Shipping & Receiving Manager.
Job Summary:
Responsible for the direction of the operations management function relating to the safety, quality control, distribution and logistics of materials and products. Responsible for management activities and results associated to maintain lean operations and product delivery. Responsible for ensuring materials are received from proper vendors, delivered to inventory and finished goods, are available to meet production schedules, packaged according to specification and shipped in a timely manner. Oversee the direction, training, coaching, leading, and scheduling of the shipping and receiving activities. Responsible for day and night shift operations. Monitors and adjusts schedules as necessary in both shipping, receiving and transportation areas to assure a cost efficient operation. Responsible for order accuracy, order fulfillment rates and productivity levels. Monitors and analyzes costs and prepares budgets.
Responsibilities:
- Manages Logistics and Transportation Operation.
- Devise and implement all operational strategies to attain forecasts and budgets. Develop plans and action items for identified targets of opportunity that clearly define objectives, goals, win strategies, and action assignments
- Devise and Implement a OSHA local and state regulations compliant safety program to continuously improve the safety focus
- Develop and manage standard operating procedures (SOP) for development and consistency
- Runs reports and analyzes data to monitor product distribution
- Creates and analyzes spreadsheets, charts, and graphs to show sales and inventory movement
- Provides input to the sales and materials divisions for design of product packaging to optimize distribution facilities
- Keeps Executive level management informed of emerging operational and facility improvement opportunities
- Communicates and negotiates transactions with logistic vendors, on a daily basis, negotiating terms of pricing, terms, conditions, shipment arrival times, and other concerns
- Builds and sustains supplier relationships regarding logistics and operations
- Answers questions and concerns posed by Inside and Outside Sales
- Monitor and execute succession planning in the operations group
- Maintain a professional, trained, and motivated staff through effective implementation of performance and career-development programs
- Verifies employee attendance and manages other issues pertaining to payroll for Operations Management personnel
- Responsible for new employee training as well as progressive training for continuing employees
- Designs and implements new ways of improving the efficiency of the operations management process
- Frequently makes presentations to the management of concerning operations and the Information Technology Department regarding changes in computer programs associated with operations management
- Responsible for the daily scheduling of Distribution Center personnel to ensure proper receiving of products
- Directs the day to day activities of the Distribution Center including shipping, receiving, and transportation deliver, and sanitation, maintenance, etc.
- Responsible for inventory control, out of stock products, receiving errors, selection of errors, and warehouse slotting of products
- Handles general employee inquiries and solves problems
- Responsible for the maintenance of Distribution Center and transportation equipment, providing both preventative maintenance programs and all necessary repairs; maintain compliance with all regulations.
- Ensures that all Distribution Center personnel have safe, efficient equipment in order to perform the distribution functions
Job Requirements
- Understanding and implementation of MRP system.
- Understanding of Warehouse Management Systems.
- Understanding of Transportation Operation with DOT compliance.
- Minimum 4 year college degree with 10 years of distribution warehouse experience in a managerial position
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows
