Simulation Technician

Monthly salary: $2370 negotiable depending on qualifications.
Purpose of position: Provide technical support for simulation learning in the School of Nursing and the Smart Hospital. Prepare/maintain skills lab equipment, media, computers, and materials in the Smart Hospital.
Essential functions: Program software to model simulators' physiological responses to instructor specifications. Support/assist in role playing applications, prop placement, and moulage set-up to create a virtual health care setting. Operate simulation manikin sessions based on priority identified by the Director of the Smart Hospital. Assist with training faculty in the use of simulation equipment. Serve as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation. Conduct tours and simulation sessions for internal/external groups and or individuals. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment as needed for simulation. Provide recommendations for budget and purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials related to simulation and the Smart Hospital. Adhere to all established protocols. Oversee maintenance and repair of simulation equipment. Attend meetings to maintain currency with simulation technology and use. Maintain current knowledge of simulation equipment, catalogs, and operating manuals. Other functions as assigned.
Job Requirements
Required qualifications: Technical or Associate's degree in such support disciplines as biomedical instrumentation, medical electronics, or equivalent. 1 year of experience in health care. Experience in the maintenance of records and supplies, equipment, and inventories of departmental equipment and maintenance of assets. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred qualifications: 1 year of experience with simulation technology. BS degree or higher in support disciplines such as engineering, biomedical instrumentation, or medical electronics. Proficiency with PC and relevant software applications such as Microsoft Office. Ability to use audio/visual equipment. Budget and inventory experience. Must work effectively as a team player and a proactive thinker. Effective presentation skills highly.
Working conditions: May work around standard office conditions. May work around electrical and mechanical hazards. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Climbing of ladders. Lifting and moving. Work hours normally will be the standard 8:00am-5:00pm unless lab schedules require hours before or after the standard time. Security sensitive position; criminal background check required.
