SMARTSOURCE is looking for a strong Server Engineer for a contract in Chicago
Job Type: contract
Duration: 3 months to start with the possibility of being extended
Location: Downtown Chicago on Dearborn
The primary focus of this position it to provide integration, design and engineering services.
A System Engineer II can manage performance and security of LANs within their specific field of expertise.
Qualifications:
1. Pre support design & engineering around IBM xSeries and blade chassis (and all related components)
2. Skilled in defining server hardware and software configurations based on end user provided details and applications
3. Capable of identifying I/O (bandwidth), NIC’s required, SCSI adapters (all types), HBA’s, memory and CPU etc. requirements allowing client to purchased all hardware and software required and a separate 3rd party to build based on our design specifications. This applies to physical servers, blade chassis and servers and virtualized servers
4. Skilled in HA solutions (clustering, VMware, Citrix) design solutions
5. Skilled with VMware ESX allowing appropriate design when a non-physical server solution is desired (determined by our team)
6. Capable of sizing server and SAN environments based on end user requirements (LUNS, capacity, cloning, etc)
7. Can identify back-up solutions for server design
8. All of solutions will be designed around existing Exelon standards
Required Skills:
Current MCSE or equivalent skills
VMware skills or VCP
Experience with IBM xSeries
Experience designing/configuring xSeries servers
