Position Summary
The Business Objects Universe Designer is responsible for design and configuration of the semantic layer of the Business Objects environment. This position requires previous experience with Business Objects Enterprise applications and direct experience leading in a Universe Designer role. Desired candidate must possess the skills necessary to interpret and model F5’s business requirements and support all aspects of the enterprise reporting architecture. Web Intelligence and Xcelsius experience also highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Advanced Universe Development. Requires thorough knowledge of the Business Objects Universe Designer application (Version XIR3).
• Work with business users and analysts to ensure that the BI environment supports business requirements.
• Work with ETL Developer to design and develop solutions to meet business requirements
• Manage the Business Objects Enterprise (BOE) environment. Work with DBAs to ensure operational soundness.
• Advanced Report Development. Ability to create complex Web Intelligence reports requiring multiple data providers.
• Create detailed and accurate project documentation, estimates, functional and technical specifications, and product configuration.
• Assist in the management of end user testing and acceptance as well as customer support in providing post-implementation support and maintenance.
• Provide knowledge transfer to other team members on core reporting functionality. Deliver training and support to end users as needed.
• BOXI Administration - User/group security, application security, data row level security, scheduling and distribution strategies, and BI architecture knowledge. Knowledge of 360 View a plus.
• Assists in other duties as needed and directed.
• Data modeling experience.
• Experience with Business Objects SDK.
• Understanding of ETL processes and dependencies.
• Knowledge of Oracle ERP.

Job Requirements

• BA/BS degree in a computer discipline, or equivalent applicable experience.
• Minimum of 7+ years of IT Application Analysis and Programming
• Practical experience and knowledge of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Principals.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in implementing Business Objects products (XIR3 preferred). *
• 5+ years in the following tools:
  • * Designer
  • * Business Objects Central Management Console
  • * Web Intelligence XI 3.1
• Must be proficient in writing SQL queries and query performance tuning (3+ years).
• Excellent understanding of data architecture, relationship modeling and effective aggregation of data.
• Knowledge of Oracle ERP a plus
• Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, within a team
• Excellent written & verbal communications skills.
