Job Description

Provide financial management and data analytical support to numerous organizations within the Air Force Medical Service (AFMS).

• Conduct analyses, reviews, and special studies of budget and funds execution, and evaluate their impact on program plans and funding current and prior year funding.

   

• Apply technical knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) regulations and internal control practices to develop draft policies and operating procedures.

   

• Provide support to assist in identifying and completing tasks, resolving audit findings, resolving material weaknesses, and revising policy, as necessary.

   

• Work independently to provide process mapping and improvements; policy development, coordination, and implementation; and systems improvements. 

   

• Provide accounting support, including financial and cost analysis and individual compliancy efforts.

   

• Create ad hoc reports, develop data mining techniques from several relational data systems, and design report queries as needed

   

• Direct the compilation of and/or prepare operational analyses and reports, indentifying trends and providing appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

   

• Communicate results of business practice, including findings and lessons learned with executives of all levels

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare and/or business related field.

• Master’s degree in healthcare and/or business related field desired.

• Minimum 4 years experience in DoD / Air Force Accounting Structure (Department, Appropriation, Fund Code, Fiscal Year, Operating Agency Code, Operating Budget Account, Cost Center, Budget Activity, Expense of Element/Investment Code, Program Element Code, etc,) with progressively more responsible professional financial management experience.

• Four years experience in the successful management of an Air Force project of comparable size and complexity. 

• Systems experience with Microsoft Excel and Access, CRIS, ABSS, MPPT and POM.

• Experience with Air Force Medical Service highly desired.

• Certification as a Defense Financial Manager is highly desirable.
