Job Description:
Sr. Research Engineer, Web IE and Web DM Come help us define the future of mobile communication technologies. We are working on web data mining, web information extraction, user-modeling, geographic models and social network data mining and modeling. At AT&T Interactive Applied Research, you will have a chance to contribute to cutting-edge research to build the next generation of mobile local search and advertisement technologies, to work on collaborative projects with AT&T Labs, and to see the impact of your work on millions of people. Responsibilities Research Engineers work with researchers to help implement prototypes and proofs-of-concept, build research engineering libraries, tools, and platforms for distributed computing, and help transfer technology into products. In some cases, they may assist with publishing papers. Research Engineers develop novel software engineering solutions for problems in information retrieval, machine learning, computational linguistics, data mining, and computational advertising. Qualifications
MS or PhD in Computer Science or related area. Excellent knowledge of and experience with large-scale web and text information extraction and data-mining techniques. Experience with large-scale approximate inference, statistical NLP and data aggregation techniques, and structural data mining, network modeling, machine learning or predictive modeling. Demonstrated ability to apply data mining techniques to a broad range of web and other data including both structured and unstructured data. Advanced C /Java programming experience and knowledge; Experience with scripting languages such as Ruby, Python, etc. Good understanding of Unix-like systems. Excellent algorithmic problem solving skills and software design skills. 5 years of experience on backend systems architecture, building distributed systems and knowledge of working extensively with databases, or experience in rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept development, building research engineering libraries, tools, and platforms for distributed computing and algorithm evaluation. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and influencing abilities. Industry experience, especially in a consumer Internet or online advertising related setting is a plus.
