POSITION SUMMARY
This position would be responsible for the maintenance, design and development around the applications that support our core products and any new products we are developing. This position would be required to put together some design, information architecture and user experience requirements and documents for our internal and external products and be responsible for front-end development and some Ruby with Ruby and Rails development.
This position requires someone who is willing to take initiatives and get things done, but also knows how to work with a team and communicate plans and ideas to others. You will be working with a team that provides specifications for your work and will be working with a QA team to make sure that all work is complete and accurate. Our team and environment can be fast paced, so you ll need to learn to adapt to changing requirements and help support our internal staff as well as our clients. This role will be responsible for maintaining and developing new applications that both support our core products Dart, eDart and Arrow, along with the development of new applications that are both client-facing and internal. We currently use Java for many of our applications, but are looking to move to Ruby and Ruby on Rails as a new development platform, so experience in working with requirements, putting together a development and project plan, and executing on that plan is critical to this role.
Job Requirements
EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS
At least 2 years experience working full-time in a front-end development or application development role.
At least 1 year of experience in Ruby and especially the Ruby on Rails framework is a must.
Experience with front-end development techniques, like standards-based HTML, CSS and JavaScript development using W3C guidelines.
Experience using the jQuery JavaScript library would be a plus.
Experience with basic information architecture practices such as wireframes, basic mockups and designs are preferred.
Worked on a team of developers, working with agile methodologies, and adhering to coding and design standards, is highly preferred.
