JOB PURPOSE
Responsible to apply principles of accounting to record transactions in the general ledger and report financial information in an accurate and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Records journal entries to appropriately report transactions; compiles monthly account reconciliations.
- Distributes expenditures, receipts, and receivables according to schedules.
- Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings.
- Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
- Examines accounts and records and computes taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations; ensures compliance with periodic tax payment, information reporting, and other taxing authority requirements.
- Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
- Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
- Reviews and analyzes general ledger accounts to ensure the veracity and proper coding of amounts.
- Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
- Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
- Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation.
Job Requirements
INDUSTRY AND EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
Some general Medical Industry or equipment knowledge is preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university; and four to six or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

COMPUTER OPERATIONS
Intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, scheduling, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, routine database activity, and record keeping including: MS Windows, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MAS 500.
