Job Description
A large, fast growing company is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to provide support for the Accounting Department. The ideal candidate will provide a variety of complex and difficult accounting and financial analysis work involving the development and maintenance of the accounting system. The individual will also assist with the training and development of the accounting staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Prepares a variety of financial reports including periodic reports, year-end closing and reconciliation, and budgetary reports.

Prepares, analysis and reviews monthly P&L’s. Conducts monthly P&L reviews with operations staff.

Prepares, audits, balances and reconciles accounting records and journal entries.

Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of fiscal policies, procedures and practices.

Prepares highly complex and technical reports; documents policies and procedures; and performs research as needed.

Ensures accurate completion of forms requiring payroll data in compliance with Company and government guidelines, tax laws as well as accounting reporting policies and procedures.

Conducts internal audits as required.

Maintains fixed assets schedule.

Ensures that all required licenses are current.

Oversees the duties of the Revenue Accountant, Accounts Payable Specialist and Payroll Specialists as needed.

Performs GL reconciliations as assigned.

Maintains appropriate benefits records and updates insurance carrier information as needed. Produces insurance census as needed.

May assume responsibility for the operation of the accounting department in the absence of the Controller.

Performs various related clerical duties and prepares reports and audits as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE:
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Demonstrated high standards of conduct and ethics as well as appropriate judgment and discretion. Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices and the ability to work independently.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 2-5 years experience in a senior accounting position; or a equivalent combination of education and experience.
