We work with companies involved with clinical trials and other market approval processes to help them deliver their products on time and on budget. One of our clients in Kenilworth, NJ is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join their team. This is a contract position.
Project and Process Strategic Planning and Analysis
· Leads and collaborates with cross-functional teams to refine and articulate creative and/or alternative sourcing strategies
· Develops strategies to mitigate risk
· Reviews qualitative and quantitative sourcing trend data, performance and deviation reports to highlight potential improvement areas for cost control, cycle time reduction, etc.
· Assists in completing comprehensive analyses of sales, demand and capacity
· Challenges forecasting/modeling assumptions based on firm-specific knowledge, external market trends, and situation analysis studies
· Works with, and gains consensus among key decision-making colleagues to develop the assessment and/or selection criteria for key business needs (e.g. performance metrics)
Procurement Administration and Policies Implementation
· Monitors compliance and takes actions with respect to contracts and POs
· Incorporates insights and feedback from cross-functional teams on the implementation of procurement policies and processes
· Keeps abreast of industry best practices and trends in procurement
· Conducts cost-benefit and viability analyses to assess the value creation of new systems/tools
· Oversees the management of appropriate databases and/or documentation for procurement management and compliance reporting
· Recognizes potential problems at an early stage and proactively develops and implements action plans
Client and Vendor Relationship Building and Management
· Negotiates and implements local and regional agreements with major vendors to leverage preferred supplier accounts
· Participates in colleagues’ meetings to establish good understanding of business issues and procurement needs
· Collaborates closely with colleagues to ensure alignment of key business needs with sourcing strategies
· Works with colleagues to implement initiatives that realize substantial cost savings, improve vendor performance and create overall value
· Monitors key supplier relationships and resolves routine performance and quality issues
· May lead the evaluation and selection process for vendors and suppliers based on profile and cost-benefit analyses
· May take responsibility for monitoring preferred supplier relationships and resolving complex performance issues (e.g. quality, delivery, commercial, pricing)
Contract Administration and Operations
· Leads the development of contract databases that support sourcing, procurement, legal, accounts payable, and other cross-functional teams’ business requirements
· Uses network contacts to obtain market trends in contract management processes and tools
· Takes accountability for monitoring, evaluating, and improving contract performance with vendors/suppliers
· Develops and manages the modeling and standardization of contract analysis and development methodologies to evaluate and forecast contract performance under various assumptive scenarios
· Executes/implements sourcing methodologies with emphasis on driving the quality of the sourcing process
· Works closely with cross-functional teams to define appropriate contract performance measures
