Irving, TX Lehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Tax for its Las Colinas, TX location. The Tax Manager will manage the Sales and Use and VAT tax compliance function for Shared Service Center (SSC) operations in North America which includes the United States as well as Canada where the Lehigh Hanson group has a filing requirement. A strong candidate will posses excellent communication skills required to present to management as well as work with customers, governmental auditors and external auditors. Job Requirements
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS Review of Sales and Use and VAT tax returns. Assist in Sales and Use tax and VAT audit defense. Oversee the preparation of the various Governmental reporting requirements. Approve monthly tax accrual and provision entries, account reconciliation working directly with the accounting group. Approve and confirm the tax rate tables are updated. Ensure the accuracy of the tax calendar for compliance and accurate tax filing due dates. Oversee and approve vendor inquiries concerning sales tax exemption certificates. Review reconciliations of tax accounts in general ledger as required. Assist in the accuracy of sale of assets, 1031 property sales and asset additions as related to sales and Use and VAT tax. Support process improvements to improve operating efficiency. Implement policies, procedures and controls as required. Generally be available to assist with various special projects assigned by the Tax Director – SSC or Senior Tax Manager – SSC Tax. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from four-year College or university; or five to seven years tax accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience or CPA preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must have experience with JD Edwards, G/L, A/R and A/P. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Must have basic knowledge of tax research software such as RIA. Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardizes situations. Flexibility and willingness to travel up to 15%
