Job Description
- Design, write, edit and publish internal and external documents (for electronic and hard-copy distribution). Document types include:
- Operational policy and procedure documents
- Technical requirements/specifications for software functionality
- Technical training manuals
- Cross-department workflow diagrams and procedural documentation
- Client facing product materials (Release Notes, Content Highlights, User Tips,
Frequently Asked Questions, etc.)
- Formal and informal presentation materials (executive summaries, concept papers,
project plans and MS PowerPoint slides), including meaningful metrics and graphics
- Learn the clinical and technical products in order to effectively document details while performing the following:
- Interview and coordinate with subject matter experts
- Develop documentation on existing product functionality
- Test new and existing documentation against the actual product(s)
- Manage product content on customer-facing websites
- Publish, assemble, and manage updates, templates and versioning for all existing and new department documentation on the company intranet (SharePoint), ensuring ease of accessibility
- Coordinate and collaborate with other departments to ensure department information is aligned with other clinical and/or technical written information
- Facilitate documentation review sessions with stakeholders
Job Requirements
- BA, BS or graduate degree in Technical Writing, English, Journalism or related field and a minimum of 3-years experience. Previous experience with medical writing highly desirable.
- Excellent writing, editing, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly skilled in MS Office 2003 and 2007 (including MS Visio) and other software programs used for publishing materials
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft SharePoint, including inherent Document Management features
- Experience with developing, maintaining and using document templates and documentation standards
- Proven skills in time management, task planning and deadline adherence
- Creative, self-motivator with affinity for working in a fast-paced, team environment
